Definitely my fav band of all time. Epitome of what a great rock and roll band should be. Basically grew up with them. Fav song is definitely It's Late. Great rocker from News of the World. I too remember when Body Language came out. Didn't sound anything like a Queen record to me. Actually hated it at the time. Now, I have grown to like it a bit. That song and the album it came from Hot Space still is a big argument among their fans. The album basically flopped when it came out. Now, looking back, some say that it was a bit ahead of its time with the melding of funk/dance and rock. The video for Body Language is another thing in itself. One of the first to be banned by MTV. But now, it seems a bit tame. The other 3 members of the band have often made the comment that the video wasn't their "cup of tea" either. Definitely, Freddie's idea.

One of my fave bands. So over the top and ridiculous and yet they could rock out like no other.
For me their most New Wave sounding track would be "Calling All Girls" from Hot Space in 1982. Neither a favorite song or album for me. I preferred them to just do their own sound and do it well.

...the lyrics where they are singing opera to their mothers, I always thought there was a bit of self-parody in it, just meant to be a fun song imo.

The AOR air talent at the time seemed beside themselves when they played "Body Language" or "Dancer" or anything else from Hot Space. They couldn't put on a Bob Seger record fast enough.[|)]

For anyone interested, Queen put 16 songs on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart (different chart from the Hot 100), which includes "Hammer to Fall" being released twice.

Under Pressure - #7, 1981 (#29 pop)
Body Language - #19, 1982 (#11 pop)
Radio Ga Ga - #22, 1984 (#16 pop)
I Want It All - #3, 1989
Headlong - #3, 1991

The re-released Bohemiam Rhapsody on the Wayne's World soundtrack only hit #16 on the rock chart, while hitting #2 on the regular hot 100 pop chart.

"Tie Your Mother Down" and "Get Down Make Love". 1981 I saw this tour in Atlanta. Same night AC/DC was in town. If your a Queen fan I highly recommend the Blu-Ray of them live in Montreal 1981.A very good concert !

By the way,"Dragon Attack" and "We Will Rock You(fast version) is excellent on this disc.

yeah because a few of those tracks sound more like Prince or even Wham than Queen (ie Staying Power)

Back Chat is a real nice Chic-like funky number off of that lp, I like that [:D]

never been that bothered by queen,suppose YOURE MY BEST FRIEND would be classed as half decent and also I CAN HEAR MUSIC - LARRY LUREX is worth a mention............
