two Stan-free albums? I never really checked them out before, but I just listened to sound samples on itunes and now I wish they'd be released on CD again so I could pick them up.

Seven Days in Sammystown is actually quite good. "Big Cities" is as close to sounding to Stan as you can get.

Happy Planet....well, it's pretty bad but that's just my opinion.

Seven Days In Sammystown is my favorite album of all time. I'm kinda weird like that. Happy Planet is not as good, but it still has some tracks I like.

I like them both, Happy Planet more than Sammystown but that may be because I'd heart it first. Andy Prieboy didn't try to be Stanard Ridgway version 2, which was A Good Thing.

First album''Dark Continent''is an unsung post/punk classic with its industrial overtones and desert pop weirdness.Second period with Andy Prieboy,still interesting but more synth pop oriented.

Don't forget the live album "The Ugly Americans: Live in Australia". Some nice non-album tracks, but also some bad Andy versions of Stan-era songs.

A mixed bag, for sure.

although WOV will never be the same without Stan
it was interesting when Stan and the newly revamped WOV released records the same year
I like 7 Days a lot and it has many of old Stan-dard type of WOV (Big City,This Business of Love, Dont Spill My Courage, Room with a View) but Prieboy's influence is seen on Blackboard Sky,Far Side of Crazy, Mona, Faded Love
It was there best post Stan outing even though I do like their remake of Do It Again on Happy Planet
how about Stan's best? I think his first 3 are his best especially A Mission in Life from Mosquitoes
