'When In Rome' question

Postby Analogue » Mon Oct 04, 2010 12:50 pm

Does anyone have any information regarding this release:

The 'studio 1987' identifier seems to suggest an early/demo version of 'The Promise', but the fact that this is a Cleopatra release indicates a re-recording.

It's a trademark Cleopatra "Re-recording" from this hilariously cheesy album:

Occasionally Cleopatra will reissue tracks rather than just remake them-they've recently made the original 12" version of Ministry's "Everyday Is Halloween" available as a digital single along with its 2010 remake. So it's actually possible that the When In Rome track is a demo/alternate take. But I (literally) wouldn't put money on it, at least without further confirmation of its source.

It's almost painful to remember that Cleopatra started out as a pretty good reissue label. I have their Kommunity FK reissues right here on my desk...

Cleopatra's 3 disc "Monster New Wave Hits" collection just might be the worst atrocity I've ever heard from any label ever. Everything from the Stray Cats track that's not the Stray Cats to the horrendous "megamix" that takes up all of disc 3. They would have to put out something truly spectacular for me to ever waste money on their product again.

Vocals sounds weird? it's like he's singing inside a huge drum or something [:D]
