Proof Positive of NW & Hip Hop's Shared DNA

Yeah, that's a pretty incendiary and presumptuous statement..
B4 you rip me a new one, watch this all the way through and then tell me otherwise.(Hint: Think Clash & Blondie)

Has there been some dispute over this? Seems fairly obvious to me.

I'm sorry I don't fully agree with your statement "Proof Positive of NW & Hip Hop's Shared DNA".

Blondie had a breakout Disco hit with "Heart Of Glass" which pushed them to experiment more with other styles by putting a rap part in "Rapture". The Clash had always had Reggae undertones in their music. Hip Hop breaks and raps are all over Sandinista. Mick Jones took it one step further in Big Audio Dynamite songs. BUT, the Cars never put out a hit out on Oingo Boingo (East Coast vs. West Coast). None of us New Wavers ever spent hundreds of dollars in car stereo equipment to blow out bass beats of Depeche Mode songs. I enjoyed hearing Chic's "Good Times" when it first came out in 1978 and upon hearing "Rapper's Delight" thought it was gimmick-parody song like Weird Al. Unoriginal Will Smith is guilty of doing the same thing throughout his career; "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It" from Sister Sledge's 1979 hit He's The Greatest Dancer", "Men In Black" from Patrice Rushen's "Forget Me Nots", "Wild Wild West" from Stevie Wonder's "I Wish". There could be others, but these are the ones I know of. Why bring this up? Most Hip Hop fans look confused when I play "Good Times", "He's The Greatest Dancer", "Forget Me Nots" or "I Wish". They had all believed those Hip Hop songs were original.
