Why Some New Wave Bands From Australia Never Tour

Why is it that some of my favorite and some of your favorite New Wave bands from Australia,promise us in the past that they will do a US tour,but then they never do? My question is how come? This question is basically for Mental As Anything. I had left a post for them awhile back asking them,will they ever do a world tour at some point in time,and one of the band members posted back,yes.Then I asked how soon,and got no response back.

The Mentals as far as I know have not played the USA since they toured with Men At Work,back in 1982 or 83.Why have they waited so long to come back to the states is what I would love to know.They are my favorite New Wave band out of Australia,and I have yet to see them play live.

Had I known that they would never tour the US again,I would have gone to see them with Men At Work at the time,but I was never a fan of Men At Work,and was thinking that The Mentals will be back here again,so I shouldn't worry about it.It's been way over 25 years since they last played here.Alot closer to 30 years.No band ever took this long to come back over here to the states before.

I am quite sure many bands wouldn't be against it, but it is down to promoters who will take the risk of such a tour. It is quite a risk financially for them, how many tickets will those bands sell - how many gigs do they have to book to reach break-even and is that even possible and so on...

Most bands would love to do it but it's not financially feasible.

It's the same reason why many of my fave UK bands don't come here...risk.

Even here in Australia, it is rare for some of these legacy Aussie bands to tour...

Icehouse is embarking on a national tour, first time in nearly 15 years
Hoodoo Gurus play infrequently
the church play regularly, annual basis
Robert Forster tours semi-regularly
Real Life and Pseudo Echo are still playing the clubs
