Send me an angel!

I dig Real Life, I definitely should take the time to listen to their material as I grew up listening to their more popular songs. I remember watching a performance on HHIS that they did a while back, and I really liked the song. I don't remember the name though.

Anyways- another thing to share:

'Can We Get Together'' -East African Tragedy Appeal concert. Performers include Pseudo Echo, Kids in the Kitchen, Real Life, Beargarden, I'm Talking, John Justin & Midge Ure.

Yes. Midge of Ultravox joined what was possibly the cream of Melbourne's young new wave talent to sing this song. Bit cheesy I admit, but I do appreciate the musicality of the song to some extent. Had to share considering that some of the acts we mentioned performed this song.

The crystal ballroom days! Very early new wave/ post punk stuff from around 1977-1982 ish. A good amount of people in those bands ended up being part of the more commercial pop scene in the mid 80s (ie. Essendon Airport members joined I'm Talking). I think many people ignore the stuff around 1983-1987 due to the fact that "commercial" is a dirty word for some (although some bands that were considered to be trying to make it in that scene didn't really want to be associated with top 40 stuff).

There's quite a lot of bands from the mid-80s period that don't get much attention, the main ones that I see always popping up are INXS, Icehouse, and Pseudo Echo- due to their success overseas more or less. I'd be all for a official compilation of those bands. There are some out there, but they aren't as representative. Mind you- all the states, mainly Melbourne, Sydney, and Perth had all their respective scenes. It would be cool to have a box set of tracks from artists from all the states.
