MP3 Question...

Postby New Wave Dave » Tue Apr 18, 2006 1:03 pm

I have an MP3 I'd like to share with the class but don't know how to do that exactly. I'm great with posting images (and links to images) but I have no experience with music files. How do I get started? Thanks in advance. :)

And if for some reason I am unable to do this is there anyone here I could email the MP3 to who can post it here for everyone to check out? Like Blir? He's the Grand Poobah, right? Thanks in advance again. :)

Try this topic NWD - http://www.nwoutpost.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=10092

But even if you get it figured out, I'd STILL send all of my mp3s to Blir for posting. He's told me before that he's happy to do it.

Thanks, wozgo. I've seen some files shared here using "yousendit" and it works great for sharing through downloading but what I'm thinking of is an actual link I can post (from wherever the MP3 is "hosted") so that whoever clicks on that link can listen to the tune in whatever player they have on their comp. I think that's how it works.

But I did upload it to YSI.com anyway, so for the first ten people who are interesting in downloading the tune here's the link...
Gotcha. You'll need server space for that, and you probably get some free personal storage space from your internet provider. Unless you know your stuff, I would contact one of their techs by email or phone to get started.

So what's the deal with the song? American Woman, but you didn't explain why you are posting it for us.

What's the deal with the song? I know there are people here who like music from other genres (not just new wave) and I thought I'd share. [:)]

Btw- it's not American Woman [;)]

If the fuzzed-out guitar didn't sound familiar I thought the bass line would ring a bell. Listen again... [8D]

Btw II- And no it's not by The Trans Siberian Orchestra either! [:D]

Or The Brian Setzer Orchestra. [:D]

Or Zuben Meta. [:D]

Whole Lotta Love, but it's not Led Zeppelin ...different, but I prefer the original. Who is it?
ahahahahaaaa! Well, after a thorough listen, I see that it's "Whole Lotta Love" [:D]

But since Coogan posted the title before I could, I'll never be able to prove that I knew it on my own and redeem myself.

I'm such a rock n roll poser. I'm losing credibility around here as fast a Ben At Work.

Yeah, I prefer the original too but this is still pretty cool, imo anyway. A great combination of 3 piece rock with an excellent horn section.

I'll check into SBC Global to see how much storage I'm alotted for this kinda stuff.

Oh who recorded this? Curtis somebody. [;)]

Dammit!! This is one of those times when a Mac can't keep up with a PC.

I've got the file hosted but for some reason I can't post its URL. [:(]

Anyone wizards out there wanna take a shot at it?

I don't understand Dave. You have the correct URL? If you just copy and paste it here, it doesn't link? Are you sure it's not a link a private storage locker? html and url's should be largely universal across platforms.

Hi Blir. I don't want to over-explain what's going on but here's what's happening so far...

I have uploaded this MP3 to a briefcase alloted me by my ISP. What I am trying to do now is post the link for just that file so when the link is clicked, the file automatically opens up and plays in the user's MP3 player.

On my Mac, if I click on the file (to play it from my Briefcase) I get a blank window with no URL in the address line. And when the audio file itself opens up to play, I can't find its URL to post as a link.

I suppose I could make my Briefcase "Public" and post its link to get to the MP3 but I've seen some posts here where a link is posted and when that link is clicked, it opens up the audio file. That's what I want.

So far every link I've posted to play the tune seems to work just for me, and only until I log-out of my Briefcase.

Sooooo, what do I need to do differently to get this song to open up and play from a link? I don't have any experience with music files like this so I'm pretty frustrated. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks. [:)]

In the meantime, I've signed-up at a couple of MP3 Hosting sites and am waiting registration approval.
