Have you guys ever thought of a name for your own NW or music group in general? When I was a kid, I always entertained the idea of being a rock star and I remember seriously trying to come up with some cool names for my band, but of course my band never existed. I had some really cheesy names written down but I can't recall now. If I had my own band today it would be called "The Y Fonts".

What's the name of your band?

When I was in college I sang in a punk rock band called Festive Death. It was a short lived career!

I don't know what I'd name my new wave band if I had one. Probably RU486. My other project I'm working on is currently nameless. [:(]

Besides "The Fucktards" I'd have to go with "Starving Maynards The". It's a name me and my old roomate came up with.

Putting "The" on the end was a way of revolting against all the bands that felt compelled to put a "The" at the beginning of their names.

PS It's also fun to put "The" where it doesn't belong at all. As in: "Did you hear the latest song from The Garbage?" Or "I really like The REM."

"Squid Brillo".....part of the whole Rain Parade camp. 3 cassette releases and even got a mention in Maximum Rock and Roll. Some air play in Cleveland Ohio back in mid to late 80's.

I think these are the ones I came up with as a teenager:

"Ruptured Kleenex" (or "Ruptured Positive" to avoid copyright issues)

"Ionesco And The Images"

I have no idea why I came up with those names...

Interesting that most of these names sound more punk-oriented than new wave to me. I guess that means, most of you would be in a punk bank.
