Handling The 80's With Care

How many of you are really careful when handling your CD or vinyl records? I'm always mindful of fingerprints, holding by the edges & putting them back in their cases & sleeves when done. I get horrified by the way some of my friends handle their music! I look at my music collection as an investment that I want to take care of. Especially rare things that are OOP.
I also don't loan anything out. It may be selfish but I've had bad experiences in the past with scratched records & lost CD's. I will make a tape or CD for friends who want to listen to something, but I don't let anyone borrow my stuff anymore. Just the way it is.

Same here. I give all my girlfriends a "record/cd handling" test. It's kind of funny but they always ask me, do you love your cd's more than you love me? I always have to hesitate on my answer. Heheh. Of course my answer has to be "it's you dear" but

I don't put my stuff in alphabetical order, but I have it all in chronological order by artist. My wife thinks I'm "unique".

After a couple of bad experiences, my CD's don't leave the house at all - not to lend out, not to play in a portable CD player, nada! I don't mind making a cassette or CD-R for anyone, but the CD's and vinyl stay put. Everything is handled by the edges,

Wow! Glad to hear that many of you feel the same way I do. I also alphabetize my CD's for easy access. It's a pain in the ass, but worth it when I'm looking for something in a hurry.

I handle the Cds the same way as the LPs: one finger in the center, and the thumb on the edge. I dont' let anybody touch my records (unless they "pass the test"), but I am much more liberal with my Cds.
