Every few months I get a CD-R in the mail from a high school friend who lives overseas. He’s heavily into music and feels the need to let me hear his latest discoveries (although I could have done without the Tuvan throat singing or some of the tedious jam bands.) I really enjoy a lot of the stuff he sends me.

So I was thinking.........

Would anyone be interested in a CD-R exchange program? (Oh God, just one person please say yes or I’ll feel like a total jackass.) Just reply to this post that you would like to take part, pick a name or names from the list, exchange mailing addresses by email and trade mixtapes....er, mixCD-Rs. I think it’s worth the cost of a blank CD and about 80 cents postage to hear what kind of musical goodies you have to share.
I'm guessing most of us here would be open to all types of music that fall under the “alternative” genre--new wave, punk, post-punk, power pop, industrial, etc etc etc but I’m willing to be surprised by whatever is sent my way.

Any questions or logistical things I might have missed?

I can't speak for everyone but I'd guess people here are open minded enough to listen to just about anything (at least once.)

Do we make it all '80s music?

Do we mix '80s music with more current stuff that is obviously influenced by the '80s?

Don't make it all 80s, there's no fuckin fun in that. I mean, yeah, mix 80s stuff with current stuff influenced by the 80s - I have no problem with that. I could fill up two CDs worth of stuff consisting of obscure 80s sounding stuff nobody knows.
