Shriekback

Wow they were a weird little band eh? They kicked off the cannibal craze (effectively ended by Total Coelo) and went gunning for Buddha's on their worldwide tour. Truly being evil (or acting like it) was never so cool. Any thoughts.... [:D]

The moody downtempo of (All)'Lined Up' makes it my fave from them. [;)]

I remember the name but I can't remember any songs they sang. Can you name a few of the more popular ones (if any)?

My Favorite Shriekback song is "Hymn to the local Gods" from their overlooked last studio album SACRED CITY.

The song "Exquisite" from the BIG NIGHT MUSIC album is exquisite!

Nemesis and Everything that Rises Must Converge are probably the two best known tracks by Shriekback. Both are from Oil and Gold which is a tremendous album. Highly reccomended for the above and for my all time favorite songs by these guys:

Nemesis is the bomb. No one's mentioned the song Accretions yet and that's pretty good too.

Nemesis wins major points for incorporating the word parthenogenesis! I can see it showing up as a question on Jeopardy...

Sexthinkone is my favorite by these guys, followed by "all Lined Up", "My Spine is the Bassline", and "Clear Trails". Shriekback truly had a weird, unusual sound!

I know we discussed this topic before, and again, I love Shriekback. I also really like the song "All Lined Up". They had so many good songs. I am surprised that they weren't more popular.

Oil and Gold is a great album.

I've not heard the word "parthenogenesis" in a lyric before, nor since.

I just recently discovered the song "Nerve" by them, one of those tunes that I find so infectious that I just play it over and over, similar to my reaction when "Nemesis" first came out. I also like the song "Go Bang!", which I first listened to a few mo
