Tiger_mn sent me a fabulous disc of mp3's featuring all movie soundtrack tunes. I was so impressed, I decided to feature all movie/tv soundtrack music on my show this Monday! Besides many of the killer songs on Tiger's compilation, I will also be playing stuff from the following soundtracks:

Valley Girl
200 Cigarettes
Good Will Hunting
With Honors
Porky's Revenge (perhaps the most underrated soundtrack of the 80's)
Shawshank Redemption
Twin Peaks
Pleasantville
Rocky 4
Groundhog Day
etc, etc...

More Bowie--Title Track from Absolute Beginners
Arcadia--Title Track from Say the Word (their best song, IMHO)
Several songs from the soundtrack to Manhunter: Shriekback, Red 7, etc.

Med, google the out of print soundtrack to The Last American Virgin. It's right up there too with the alltime greats and likewise grossly underated.

There's lots of good stuff you don't hear often on the "Some Kind of Wonderful" soundtrack. How about stuff from Ferris Bueller's Day off that you don't hear much like the fantastic "Beat City" by the Flowerpot men? Or is this already on tiger's comp?

Those are all awesome, but i really liked the under appreciated "Up The Acadamy" Movie (Mad Magazine). I used to own it's soundtrack but lost it when i went into the army in 84. Oh well, I thought it was pretty cool.

"Porky's Revenge" and "Starstruck", mentioned above, are 2 of my faves. A couple of other soundtracks to check out are "Absolute Beginners" and "Party Party".

The Wraith and Thief of Hearts both are excellent soundtracks, both very hard to find also.

Other good ones are Scarface, Better Off Dead, and well, anything with Elizabeth Daily.[:D]

You guys have given me two more to look for with Last American Virgin and Porky's Revenge, I'm all about the 80's soundtracks.[8D]

Porky's Revenge, while being a crappy movie, has a dazzling lineup of musicians on the soundtrack, including George Harrison, Robert Plant, Dave Edmunds and Jeff Beck. Definitely worth a listen.
