Name That Tune Volume 26 - Halloween Edition

Postby fritzb » Mon Oct 17, 2005 7:17 am

In keeping with the spirit of the season, I'm pleased to announce a special <I>Halloween Edition of the ever popular <B>Name That Tune game. All of the songs in this edition have an appropriate Halloween title or theme. While I'm sure everyone could think of a few obvious songs to include in a game like this game, I dared to venture deep into the New Wave crypt to dig up a few fiendishly wicked little ditties to torture you with. Don't be scared to jump right in and shock us with your evil genius.
<img src="http://home.comcast.net/~fritzb1/devilwink.gif">

As usual there are a total of 25 songs clips. The game is on a 100 points basis (2 point for artist, 2 point for title). Partial credit will be given for responses that are "close" to correct. There are 2 seconds of silence between song clips. Download your response form below and email it to me for tabulation when you're finished (my email address is on the form). Make sure to put your forum screen names on your answers, so I know who you are. I will send the Answer Sheet to everyone who sends me their responses (if you don't hear from me within 24 hours, I probably didn't get your email). <B>Don't post your responses here!

Here's the link for the response form (my email address is on it):

Here's the song sampler link:

The game will end on <font color="orange"><B>Friday October 28 at 4PM EDT</font>.

Boy, anything outside of KROQ and I am screwed.

Guess I have to get used to walking around without my chest puffed out.

I was an egotistical jackass...There are so many people I've been shoving around for the past 2 weeks since the last contest...

Guess I need to go make amends.

damn.

So I got like 4 or 5 on a first run...very poor. The worst part is, the ones I didn't get, I have absolutely NO clue about. They don't even sound vaguely familiar.

It's been pretty quiet this week with the responses. I guess folks are just too scared.

All kidding aside, this is a tough game. These themed games tend not to have a lot of big radio hits (remember the SciFi game?). So if the bulk of your NW knowledge is based on what you heard on the radio, you might have a tough time with this one. The recent thread on Halloween themed NW songs may gives a few hints, but it only helps if you are actually familiar with the songs mentioned. And of course, I dug up quite a few songs that no one mentioned. [:p]

Good job Fritz. This one had a pretty unique character. Lots of tracks that were on the periphery of recognition - I spent a few days going back to it and about 5 more songs came to me. Still just good for barely half! [V] But different than some other ones where I either totally knew it or totally didn't.

I thought I totally didn't know one. It totally turned out to be a huge hit I have on record, on video, and have heard dozens of times. Now THAT'S scary.
