Better Alt bands of the Nineties

Blir's Toad the Wet Sprocket thread got me all into the early nineties alt music mindset. it was kind of a dismal time for the more melodic tunes we were so used to in the eighties. I got into grunge a little and even though my mainstays like Depeche, New Order, Pet Shop Boys and Erasure put out music, it was'nt enough to keep this music fan satiated. I survived on a diet of:

I liked a lot of the stuff that labels like Touch & Go and Amphetamine Reptile were putting out in the 90s. I guess it's closer to post punk than anything else, but some of my faves were:

Silverfish
Lubricated Goat
Scratch Acid
Big Black
Jesus Lizard
Surgery
Helmet (early stuff)
Cop Shoot Cop

Lots more, but I'm at work & unable to think of many right now.

Nice list. We were listening to the same stuff. Silverfish were underrated. I saw a Touch and Go band called Laughing Hyaenas open for Sonic Youth once and OH MAN!

Also got to see Cows, Dwarves, Melvins and Jesus Lizard whilst living in Chicago. Good chit.
