New Wave Artist You Met

Has anyone met any new wave artist in there lifetime and if so , what were they like [?]

I met Tim Scott, Peter Godwin, the Comateens, yea all the big acts, I really dont know I talked to them for a minute and Im not sure how they were, nice to me

For whatever reason I've met quite a few folks...Dieter from Yello, Men Without Hats on Pop Goes the World Tour, Nitzer Ebb, Freur(when they just became Underwold), Steve Bronski (of Bronski Beat), Bow Wow Wow, and Erasure.

In 1980/81 I 2 times 'arranged' things around the concert of Orchestral Manouvre in the Dark at the Stokvishal in Arnhem. I can remember talking to the singer and how much he loved Joy Division.

Although he had not much to do with New Wave-music, I met Micheal Hutchence on the street at New Years Eve 1982/3. Barefoot on the Esplanade in St. Kilda. Talked for half an hour. Great guy. Didn't know who he was when I was talking to him. Heard it from a friend that it was MH. I did know INXS by then from the radio and songs from the Club I went to.

Furthermore I went to the pub with Mark Seymour (Hunters & Collectors) a few times. We lived in the same neighbourhood. And knew his brother Nick, through my then-girlfriend, who worked with him on something for RMIT then. Spoke to Graeme Revell (SPK), Barry Adamson (Magazine/Nick Cave), and Mick Harvey. I met Bruce Gilbert and also Graham Lewis after a Wire gig in Amsterdam. Great to talk to Bruce Gilbert. Once went with a friend backstage at a concert of Nick Cave in Amsterdam. She knew him well (she made the cover of the first solo-album of Cave). That's about it, I think.

PS. I met Tom Mega from Me and the Heat in 1984. I was going to be their tourmanager, according to a friend of mine who was managing them at the time. They had a real good year and totally positive press in 1984. Yhey were called the German Clock DVA. Good musicians...but unfortunately not to much together as group. The band never made the tour, and I just made some promotionphoto's of the band, which I came across on a V/A where Tom Mega appeared. never was a real fan of their music (as my friend was). But Mega was a great mind and a very creative person !
Plus also met The Clash backstage in Melbourne. And Gang of 4 after a Februari 1980 gig in the Stokvishal.
(I think Gill said he was jealous of me, seeing me and my girlfriend after the gig...snogging in after hours [:I] )

And will soon meet Mike Score from Flock of Seagulls.

Nice list BHols. I also met Cy Curnan and a couple other members of the Fixx during their comeback tour in '98. Freindly guy. We talked about radio.

As a former broadcast reporter I met dozens and dozens of "celebrities" over the years but the only New Waver I met was Cy Curnan. I did send an e-mail to Robin Scott (M) one time and he responded very cordially.

It was just luck meeting all of them. I used to hit all of the in store sign in's, hang out back stage & I live nr NYC.

I got to go to a special screening of "Pet Sematary" with the Ramones! It was a WLIR promo thing & my buddy worked there.
