I gotta argue with Patsy Kensit's name on the list...Might as well include Tiffany and Debbie Gibson. I do, however, 100% agree with Debbie Harry, Alison Moyet, and Cyndi Lauper. Awesome vocalists who were really able to prove they were such great stylists as well as terrific singers. For me, Nina Hagen is the tops. And she qualifies for this list, too, since she was lead singer of Nina Hagen Band before flying solo. And Nona Henrdyx! Her voice is like a stray cat. All of these women, minus Nona, have gone back and interpreted standards and jazz and have done it quite convincingly, as well. Hell, even Chrissie Hynde duetted with Sinatra on his 2nd edition of Duets. Grace Jones, although never the leader of a band, is the $h!t simply because she's Grace Jones and no one has ever sounded like her since. Gotta give notice to Poly Styrene, too!

The Bodysnachers' lead vocalist Rhoda Dakar (later with Special AKA), along with these fine-looking babes: Nicky Summers (bass), Sara Jane Owen (lead guitar), Stella Barker (rhythm guitar), Miranda Joyce (alto sax), Penny Leyton (keyboards), and Jane Summers (drums).

After the Bodysnatchers broke up, guitarists Stella Barker and Sarah-Jane Owen, saxophonist Miranda Joyce, keyboardist Penny Leyton, and drummer Judy Parsons decided to form a new band, The Belle Stars, recruiting bass player Lesley Shone and lead vocalist Jennie McKeown. An all good-looking female band!

No one has mentioned [b]Clare Grogan[/b] [:I][:p] of Altered Images yet! Wow, best female to front a great band!!!

Josie Cotton is all-time fave of mine, too, but I thought we had to keep it to lead singers. If not, then I'm adding Rachel Sweet's name to this list. I still have her and Josie on my playlists, love them both! Clair Grogan was a consideration for me, as well, but I can only listen to her voice for a few songs, then she's gotta take a hike. Otherwise she starts to sound a squeezie toy. Does anyone remember her sole solo release (I'm pretty sure that there was only one...?) "Love Bomb", produced by Zues B. Held?
