Got my edition in the mail. Sounds okay. Vids good. Like the last added track on the CD remix of Gloria (DJ C Radio Edit).

The term is lip sync or even lip synch. It's short for LIP SYNCHRONIZATION. Synchronization as in the matching of audio and corresponding video signals so that there is no noticeable lack of simultaneity. Does it make sense to you now? It's not exactly rocket science, for fuck's sake.

For what it's worth, I stumbled across a podcast where the host talks nothing but Laura Branigan:

Naturally other topics are discussed in other episodes. Haven't listened to any of them yet though.

Just received and watched the Laura Branigan concert in Lake Tahoe, 1983. Impressed with her performance, sound was quite good. On laserdisc.

Yes, Bitter Almonds, I often find myself having to go back to laserdisc for superior sound quality or obscurity. It's frustrating working with DVD at times, most often the picture quality is superior(to those formats before it) but the sound quality is all over the map. Who would want to use surround sound under such a confined compression with DVD? Okay, Blue Ray changes that whole game. But for DVD, just give me a good FULL PCM two chanel track and I'm happy.
Ah, but the deceit, often they may give the appearance of a full PCM track but really its just a bicycle parked in the garage and not a truck.
Thus, back to laserdisc, where I can often control the outcome. Don't get me wrong, there are some great sounding DVD's out there, but there's just as much junk.
I look forward to Blue Ray. Hopefully the game playing will stop. Will be interesting if theres enough money in going back to some of these older works for remastering. My guess would be far and few.

You are indeed fortunate to have such a recording, I bet in your hands Gloria has never sounded better. Any chance of a post?

a bit off topic but just curious, do you also like Jennifer Rush and Lory "Bonnie" Bianco? Not so much popular in US, but nice 80's pop singers [:)]

To tell you the truth I'm not into alot of the nonvideo tracks by Laura. Has its moments in mood, mostly like her dance tracks. Don't mind the pop 80's female artists as long as they have some dance beat to them. Not into the sappy love songs.
