Don Letts was also the mastermind behind the great Clash documentary Westway to the World, as well as it's precursor, Clash on Broadway.

Joey Santiago, legendary guitarist from the Pixies, is Filipino. Rubbeet can agree with this - New Wave was huge in the Philippines throughout the '80s, the entire decade, namely in Manila. The division in mainstream music was either pop or New Wave as AO

Lead singer of the new New Wave band Bloc Party is black.

Another '80s New Wave group with a black member was Private Lives. Loved that band. Remember them, Rubbeet? They sang "Living in a World (Turned Upside Down)."

As previously mentioned, a nod should be made to the Bus Boys. Also, have the Plastics been mentioned yet?

I remember a band that was a Jewish take-off on Culture Club, called Oy! George and the Kosher Club. Don't remember more than that.
