Best NW band Bass Player

My favorite bass players are all women, it seems:

Tina Weymouth (Talking Heads)
Sara Lee (the League of Gentlemen, the Gang of Four)
Jane Munro (Au Pairs)

I started playing bass in 1980, still play...and in all this time the bass player above everyone else who I'd pay good money to listen to or go see is undoubtedly Graham Maby...his work with the original Joe Jackson band is jaw dropping...Bruce Thomas run

Some excellent names so far.

George Anderson from Shakatak is an excellent bass player, saw him live in Epsom a couple of years ago, superb.

Nick Beggs from Kajagoogoo is another fine exponent of the art.

Whoever said Jah Wobble and whoever said Graham Maby. They were both right.

And the bass on Gang of 4's "Entertainment" is great, too.

And have you ever actually listened to what the bass is doing on Duran's "Rio"? Not only to be able to play it,

John Taylor by far. Go and listen to the 1st 2 albums, and you will be amazed. He really had quite a style. He said he was influenced greatly by Chic...you can tell. Self-taught, too.

1) Tracy Wormworth (The Waitresses -- check out some of those lines!)
2) Graham Maby (No maybe about him)
3) Gene Holder (the dB's)
4) Colin Moulding, XTC -- My All time fave new wave b
