You're correct. In a interview, in the early '80s Stuart claimed that the roots of Rock and Roll originated in English and Scottish pop music of the 50s, instead of as generally thought of by the rest of the known galaxy, taken from R'n'B and Western Music. Setzer read this and, understandably, wasn't very happy about it. They traded barbs for most of the early '80s in various zines.

Spandau Ballet and Duran Duran had a bit of a rivalry going on in the early 80's. They both sprang from the same scene (New Romantics) and after their styles changed a bit, they would slag each other for their preceived differences. They also battled each other on a British game show called "Pop Quiz". I have to find the link somewhere...it was a 1/2 hr. show in which 2 bands were pitted against one another and got points for answering musical trivia.
DD won.
I think by that point (it was late 1984, or early 1985), they had pretty much made up.

It may have been Pet Shop Boys and U2, since Pet Shop Boys released a version of "Where The Streets Have No Name" combined with "I Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You". Though I don't think it was an ownership thing, since WTSHNN had already been released.

Didn't The Police get pissed off when Men At Work hit it big? I don't know if there was necessarily a feud there, but I recall reading an interview or some liner notes somewhere that said that the Police thought Men At Work were stealing their thunder a bit.

I'm not certain, but I believe Brian Setzer had a feud going with... oh, every band who didn't happen to be named Stray Cats. Hell, maybe even them, too. There used to be a (rather dour) Rubber Rodeo website (http://members.aol.com/clamslam98/ -- it's toast now unfortunately) in which four members were interviewed and asked which musicians they didn't like dealing with in their time in their heyday. IIRC, 2 of them called out Setzer specifically. A third was a little less specific, and said, "The Stray Cats were dicks."

I think its becuase he (the guy from the Bravery) had the Offspring-style braided hair and played ska just before COMPLETELY changing his style and look post- Killers. Not so much anti-ska as in pointing out that they look like copycats rather than actually being into synth pop.
