Right before opening this thread I looked at the pix from The Fixx show. My first impression was how bad Cy Kernen looks in those.

Let's face facts, generally speaking, men do age better than women. It's the testosterone effect. Musculature and bone mass are less likely to fade in older males than females. Scientific fact. Now bring on the flameage!

Two words:

Peter Gabriel. IMHO, in the 80s this guy was gorgeous. Now he looks like a college professor. Fortunately (for him) my tastes in men has changed and I find chubby bald guys with white goatees cute.[;)]

Funny, considering how Marv and I have practically the most divergent political views of anyone on NWO (actually kimiiii and I have the most divergent political views, as determined by Blir and his number crunching expertise:)

If Marv and I were to oppose each other in politics, he would surely win, because I hate conflict, and I've seen Marv get mean [}:)] . It ain't pretty. [:D]

Eh,
aging is an individual thing. We all know folks in our lives who look amazing at an older age, those who still look "young", and others who just seemed to have aged fast.

Sean made a great point about that maybe we check out the aging photos of our favorites back in the day, and see a bit of ourselves in that. because we used to (or maybe still do) idolize them so much. Sure. That makes sense. Many of our faves lived a "rockstar" existance at times, and it shows.

But anyway, some folks just age "gracefully", and others don't. I don't really care myself, except for David Bowie is still HOT, so Is Simon LeBon, and George Clooney, as well. Mmm. It's just nice to look at a nice picture of them nowadays.[:p]

We can look at our own selves side by side with these celebrities but there is one obvious difference for the males (well, at least me - sometimes I wonder about the rest of you!). NO MAKEUP! And for both the males and females - no professional photographers and airbrushing. Side by side w/ no tricks, I'd be more than happy to compare myself to anybody my age. And from what I've seen, so should some of you.

Can you say "Photoshop?" If you know what you're doing, and the folks who do it professionally sure do, one can work miracles.

Someone I work with does a training on body image, etc. and she has a ton of tricked up photos of models & celebs - before photoshopping and after. I'll have to see if she can send me some.

I remember seeing an article years ago that compared an original picture of Mia Farrow and the movie poster airbrushed version - they lengthened her neck, firmed up her jawline, trimmed her nose, added longer hair...

I've seen some of those. I remember Madonna (pre-Christopher Reeve impersonation, now she has an excuse) being particularly frightening. Also, Cameron Diaz and Christina Applegate IIRC.

OK, I admit it. I get a little raw. [:p] What can I say.....I'm a New Yorker. We get a little emotional at times but you know what? It's healthy. It gets out, all at once and we move on with no pent up or repressed feelings.[:)] Besides Manekineko, you're too nice for me to ever get too mad at [;)]

And hey motors, I know what you mean. I'd be more than happy to compare myself to other guys my age. People always under guess how old I am. I'm 34 and people always think I'm a good 5 years younger than I am. Kids in their twenties think I'm their age, lol[8D]
