Technology itself is mentioned in a lot of italo songs.

I count these as Sci-Fi themes...singing about machines and such.

I don't recall any of Cygnus X's tracks having lyrics so how do you know if it's science fiction or not? Better to have chosen the Barbarella (Sven + Ralf) album [:)].

Speaking of which ... Fuzzbox did a cover of the Barbarella movie song and they also had their great track "International Rescue".

Um, since it is an instrumental, I would obviously have to rely on the 'theme' aspect of the title and or the overall flavor or ambiance of the music.
In this case the title happens to denote <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superstring_theory" target="blank">a proposed alternate Unifying Field Theory of Quantum Physics</a> while the artist name refers to a <a href="http://astrosun2.astro.cornell.edu/academics/courses/astro201/cygx1.htm" target="blank">stellar object</a> that is believed to be a black hole orbiting a star in the constellation Cygnus. (Science fiction? / Science Fact?.. You decide..)

P.S. Jeff Beck's 'Star Cycle' is also a spacey kick ass instrumental featuring 80's synth impresario Jan Hammer.[;)]
