Billy Joel- Talented Performer or Schlockmeister?

Using my already beleaguered brane cellz to actually think about this, I realize that I have absolutely ZERO feelings for Billy Joel.

He's worse even than something you'd actively hate...he's so generic to me. Lukewarm, and so I SPIT IT OUT!

I can remember the first Billy Joel song I ever heard was "Piano Man", and I was in the 5th grade. I can remember buying "The Stranger" and "52nd St" on 8-Track when I was in high school. I always thought "Glass Houses" was probably his best - mainly due to the "New Wave" influences on some of the songs.

The last Billy Joel album I bought was "The Nylon Curtain". After that, most of his music just sounded like droning crap. By 1984, I had gotten so far away from mainstream music that his music had no appeal to me.

The same goes for Elton John. I still occasionally like hearing "Saturday Night's Allright For Fighting", but that's about it. Pretty much everything he has done in the last 20 years has about as much appeal to me as MUZAK.
