Yeah yeah yeah. My original response was "...like any of us are above ANYTHING?" But that just had no bite! You would have been disappointed. [;)]

BTW, even the casual NW fan will know that it's The Colourfield, not the Colour Field.

And the Rolling Stones would hop on that meteor and do a galactic tour, taking time off to play some nauseating halftime show for some alien sport.

I stopped following R.E.M. after their mid-90's look-we-can-do-grunge-too disaster "Monster"

Two bands I have absolutely nothing with. I wouldn't even notice them disappearing. May be a little less irritated in the future...

I bet if they had called themselves The Color Field, they would have been MASSIVE in the States.

I don't think that even if they called themselves "Gigantic, Jiggling, Naked Jugs" would they have been famous in the States...

Two of the biggest names in the music industry during the past three decades. That's a really tough question. However I guess I'd have to go with U2 because they've been around slightly longer than rem. And they were on vh1 legends. REM ae just as good as u2 though.

Rapid Eye Movement... errr R.E.M. (Or is it The REM?) used to be my favorite band. Apparently, at some point, I became less hip or they just started sucking more. U2 has just always been there for me, never my favorite, take em or leave 'em. If U2 didn't come out with that cool commercial awhile back for the ipod I wouldn't have known either of them were still around! [:D]

Interesting thing about both bands is that they both started out as indie artists. And as years went by, they both skyrocketed to major mainstream success which still remains today. However I have to admit I havent heard much from rem in the last few years, while U2 are still top of the charts. Also both bands receive airplay on classic rock stations.
