Chalk up another vote for Valley Girl. EG Daily was a hottie in the film, but the biggest hottie in it of course was Josie Cotton(duh). EG Daily still looks good to this day.

As for other notable 80s films, I'd Kill for a Liquid Sky poster. It's just so 80s looking.

Blue Thunder (got the soundtrack. it's quite good)
Wargames (soundtrack also by Arthur P. Rubinstein)
Tron ( so-so soundtrack)
Looker (cheesy but good)

Wall Street (These movies summed up the 80's very well)

Iron Eagle (stupid plot)
Footloose (soundtrack stinks too)
Xanadu (What was Olivia Newton John thinking?)

Oh my God! I totally forgot "B" movies. Not everyone was into them but I find them very funny! Troma is the best. Toxic avenger, Kabooki man...and full moon had good ones too. The worse the better. If it had vampires,time travel,monsters,aliens and nudity all in one movie, I liked it. My fav. would either be Toxic avenger or Sorority babes in slimeball bowlerama. Classic!

Y'know, I feel I have to stick up for "Xanadu". It's sooooo bad it almost acheives some sort of purity. I've seen it several times and that scene where Olivia and the lead guy get turned into cartoon fish is just so utterly ludicrous.

Why would anyone want to invest in a roller-disco? Why would an angelic muse feel she has to get involved? What was Gene Kelley doing there? How did The Tubes get shangheid into opening the place?

so many questions....

Ghosty, Xanadu should have been made by Troma Films. Then, at least, we would have known where this movie was coming from![:D]

We would have also seen a topless Olivia-Newton-John now that you mention it.

Too bad Joel and the MST3K gang never got a chance to rip on Xanadu.

I'll throw my hat in the ring with:

Better of Dead -
Fantastic stuff + a great E.G. Daily performance during the school dance scene.

Some Kind of Wonderful - Furniture, Jesus and Mary Chain, the Apartments, March Violets, Propaganda, etc... "Where's the Money Keith?!"

Night of the Creeps - Another great soundtrack and probably the best comedic take on the horror genre I've seen. Very fun. "Thrill me."

Real Genius - Great soundtrack! If they would have cast someone different in the place of the young male lead... it would be 5 stars. Kilmer's finest work? (Not saying too much, but hey.)

Three O' Clock High -
Tangerine Dream & Aaron Spelling hand in hand?

Voyage of the Rock Aliens - Pia Zadora? Pseudo New Wave Musical? (Sums up the movie. Pure schlock that will amaze anyone with the guts to sit through it.) Although it does have it's share of hilarious bits: Like the male lead strutting through the halls of a school with a drugged cougar singing lyrics like: "It's just the nature of the beast..." The new wave band they got to play the rock aliens are something else to... And shamefully, my friend and I, like at least two of their songs. Viewers are also treated to the full video of "When the Rain Begins to Fall" by Pia Zadora and Jermain Jackson... this video is worth the $.99 rental alone!

Rad -
Only the Finest! Great Soundtrack... Sparks/Real Life/etc... Speaking of Real Life - the scene where Lori Loughlin (I also need to mention "Secret Admirer", another Lori Classic) and the character "Cru" Jones do a BMX "dance" to "Send Me and Angel"... one of the greatest moments in eighties cinema. When my friends and I watch this scene we always have to do a couple classic high-five's... it's just that cool.

Brazil - Gilliam's greatest.

Ghostbusters -
(Ramis/Akroyd/Murray/Moranis)'s comedic styles play off each other so well, I don't know if I will ever get sick of it. + it's got "MAGIC" by Mick Smiley - too much fun.

I am complete agreement with the earlier nod for Heathers, Bladerunner, among others also.

I TOTALLY agree! I forgot about that movie, then all of a sudden it remerged with a bunch of new fans and underground following -- GRRRR...

A few years ago I was invited to a Halloween party and I walked in and people were dressed as Xanadu characters, including a girl on rollerskates. It was so goofy. I stayed long enough to be polite (gotta give me credit for that) then I RAN FOR THE DOOR!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, Mare. Yeah, It was a sorry flick. I've heard that you have to be stoned to appreciate it. Who knows, maybe you left that party a bit too early? [:D]

Almost forgot, UNCLE BUCK! John Candy was great in this movie! I laugh every time I see it. I love the way he terrorizes the girls boyfreind-bug. By the way, odd how he died from being overweight and his name was "CANDY?" hmmmm.

1 - Dogs In Space (amazing soundtrack!)

2 - Repo Man (ditto...lets have a TV party tonight)
