Is there such thing as a "good" Simple Minds song?

You should give the album Real to Reel Cacophony a chance.Fantastic album thats one of my faves since I was a teen.It's not the pop sound of their later stuff though.Songs like Scar,Carnival,Premonition,etc....are beautiful rendered material.

True-dat, as the kids say....Empires & Dance is kind of an extension of that record...really mood arty...almost trance inducing...

I always liked them. Most of the favorites mentioned are the ones I remember really liking as well.

Well, personally, Simple Minds are not that great a band. Their songs didnt stick to my head ater listening to them. But aside from Dont You Forget About Me, I would recommend See The Lights and Alive and Kicking.

Listen to their compilation Glittering Prize. Its the best they can offer. [:)][8D]

I agree with all these above posts--I love all that early Simple Minds stuff, too, all the way up thru [i]New Gold Dream[/i] (which is my favorite). People who heard "Don't You Forget..." really have no idea of the depth and intricasy of their early work ! These guys are truly a musical NW gem. There are a lot of angles to their work. The rawness of [i]Reel to Reel...[/i] is thrilling right next to [i]Sparkle in the Rain[/i] and [i]New Gold Dream[/i].

I think I've heard don't you... I don't know. A million, No. Maybe a billion times everywhere from Doctor's waiting rooms, to supermarkets, to malls, to home depots, to walmarts, to furniture departments, to restaurant jukeboxes, to hotel lobbys, to movies about teenagers, to gyms, to knott's berry farm, to disneyland, to magic mountain, to water parks, to car stereo systems, to hard rock cafes, to (possibly) ringtones, to easy listening stations, to Rhythmic top 40 stations, to AOR stations, to classic rock stations, to adult alternative stations, to MTV2, to VH1. I'm supposing that's the only song they ever did. Big one hit wonder that was only released as a single, and on the breakfast club soundtrack, as well as various 80's compilations. However I've heard of a really cool band with the exact same name "Simple Minds" who has some real nice songs like all the things she said, sanctify yourself, belfast child, promise you a miracle, upon the catwalk, new gold dream, waterfront, and someone somewhere in summertime.
