Yeah, New Order didn't seem pretentious about their looks.
However, I have to disagree about a-ha's nomination. They're my favorite band and everything (New Wave or otherwise), but they were heavily promoted as THE band for squealing teenage girls. The record company saw them as the next Duran Duran pin-ups because of their looks, and as a result of that, they posed in a lot of magazines, posters, etc. Thankfully, they distanced themselves from all of that by their East Of The Sun West Of The Moon days. Still, that image of them as '80s boy toys dogs them to this day, unfortunately. Why can't people forget the cheekbones and enjoy the music?

New Order uses synths but every day that goes by I get the feeling that they make rock... and great one.
