Wow...haven't seen Ford's face since...probably 1989. Knew him from Thrush, mostly. My wife and I always knew he was there before we saw him. Those clove cigarettes gave him away every time!
You look familiar. Ever go to Thrush?

Sure, all the time...we all had club privileges back then and got in free everywhere...lemme remember...

Monday was Spit, right? That goofy contest where you played air guitars and faked it...I did Blondie once at a friends begging...we finished 5th out of 4 acts...but I had a blast being Chris Stein for 10 minutes...

Tuesday was...shit...Malibu (?), where our friend Hahn was...

Weds was Paris, I think...my buddy Matt, who died about 10 years ago bartended...

Thurs was Thrush cuz Tony bartended and the brothers who owned the place always took care of us...

Fri, Sat, Sun was work at Spize...

The Mon, Tues, Weds could all be wrong on the days but I'm pretty certain Thurs was the big Thrush night...the DJ was a good friend too, name escapes me...

we'd do Peppermint Lounge a lot too, don't remember the days there...

shit that was forever ago...

Yeah..I remember Matt. I had heard that he had passed away.
Tony Kaye bartended at Thrush. I lost touch with him. He was at my wedding.
The brothers were Johnny (the DJ), Steve (at the door) and Michael (owner). Rob Nitro also deejayed there.
I have exchanged emails with Rob occasionally. I am still in touch with Jeff the bartender and some of the regulars (Calvin, Amy, Adam, Monica, Pat the Rat).

Yeah, went to Matt's wake, it was sad...longer ago than I thought, maybe 94 or 95...
Last I heard of Tony he was running an Italian joint someplace in Westchester, that's prolly 5 years ago...got his big toe cut off in a bike wreck and I think he used the money on the restaurant...I gotta ask Ford, I think he still has a line on him...

Johhny and Steve...thanks for that, I never woulda remembered...I do remember some of the others you mention, but not really well. Thrush was too far to drive and the trains were too expensive and never showed up...huh, some things never change...

ok, gotta go finish my 'Why I didn't go into NYC to hang with the gang thang' my roomies comin in tonight and she'll get pissed if she trips over the 50 CAT6 cables I'm makin...
nice swappin memories, hope to see ya at the reunion...

hey CHAMPIONGENE...how ya doin?
I remember you and your bunch...I hated you all when you showed up, (from Paris?) and I was the floor bouncer at Spize. You were all better looking than me and wore cool coats...bastards!!!!!!!

Whats up man? I remember you working at Spize with Big Steve, yeah I too moved out of manhattan 3 years ago after living downtown since '88 and now live in Bushwick far away from the midwest trust fund trendy fucks that watched way too many episodes of Friends and sex n the city and moved to manhattan on their parents dime thinkng that they are so cool now. Im working on a documentary film about this subject titled " The Party You Missed". Hope all is well and looking foward to seeing all at the reunion event next year around this time.[;)]

glad we all got to be friends over the years...I still see Tommy Gun and Gentleman Jim on occasion with my buddy Ford, who you prolly remember...Mav lives in Texas or Arizona or some Republican puke bucket and Jim D lives up near the Tappan Zee and is happily married FOREVER and rather successful...Ford's still out on LI someplace and I live near Shea Stadium, since Manhattan turned into a puke bucket...prolly go red in the general...

My brother Sean and I would like to get in touch with Tommy Gunn, please let me know his contact info. Thanks Kev

Since this is a LI club-goer reunion, are you considering a LI venue/hotel?

FYI: The <a href="http://gardencityhotel1-px.trvlclick.com/index.cfm" target="blank">Garden City Hotel</a> or <a href="http://newyork.citysearch.com/profile/7546255/?brand=smx_restaurant-nc" target="blank">The Vanderbilt</a> in Plainview might serve to host this event quite nicely. (Just a suggestion..)[;)]

P.S. Don't rule out the Malibu in Lido Beach either, I know Nassau County still maintains & runs it. Perhaps they would (for the right $$) give you rights to host it there! Now that would ROCK![8D]

I forgot to tell Retro_NRG the old Malibu is being torn down. [:(]

Marie3, I spoke to my bro-in-law last night. According to him Mailbu will be torn down by the end of the year. He has promised you and I a last private tour. He did warn to wear old shoe as the floor in most of the building is gone!

Actually trying to book a venue close to the nassau suffolk border, preferably a private space that has an in expensive hotel near by for out of towners that would like to attend. But all suggestions will be seriously considered.
