Over this past summmer, a friend sent me a DVD copy of Urgh!, and I had a fantastic time watching it. I recall seeing it back in the day ( '84 I think, in a local theater), but I don't remember anything from it. So, this was like seeing a whole new movie. Fantastic! I love it! It is so awesome to see these performances of bands when the scene was really kickin'. How fresh and energetic everything was.

I had heard years ago that there were additional bands filmed but never made it to the final print. Anyone out there know who they were?

Not sure about more bands, but there were definitely more songs filmed, but not included in the theatrical cut. I think I can remember that 3 songs for each act were filmed. Some of these show up on the myriad of boots out there in www-land.

I had the honor, about two years ago, of helping Jim Skafish digitize all of his analog tape archives, including some truly amazing unreleased material from the IRS Records/URGH-era. He was saying that he'd like to get it released someday. I have no further info, but stay tuned, who knows, maybe it will happen.

its on the album right?
is it in the film?

The Numan part is one of the highlights, but is also one of the parts that was edited from some versions of the film (presuably to make the movie under 2 hours for TV).

[/quote]Unfortunately the Numan bit got removed from one TV version of the film for time restraints. That seems to be the version that shows up most on cable broadcasts. Hopefully the VH1C version will be complete.

My friends and I saw Urgh! somewhere in LA at an arthouse theatre when it was first released, and we were surprised to see ourselves down in the front row at the Whisky A Go-Go gig for Wall of Voodoo's "Back In Flesh" tune. [8D]

It was disturbing back then and it's still disturbing now. I had to gp back and watch my old VHS version again after all these years.

BTW, what was up with Lux Interior? Did he forget his suspenders?
