p.s. Someone will have to enlighten me as to who the hell Toyah is and why she attracts such disdain. Is she like Cliff Richard--a singer everyone in the UK knows about and nobody in the US has even heard of?

Oh man! You just insulted someone without even knowing it! lol Toyah is supposed to be worshipped the world over as the New Wave queen or something like that.

The truth of course is that most of the world doesn't think about New Wave at all much less one particular artist hence this board being the refuge that it is. [;)]

It's all talk, no list. All these NW babes just sitting there *waiting* to be ranked. It's a pity, really.

Here's my list

Claudia Brucken
Martha Davis (Motels)
Kate Pierson (B52's)
Joanne Catherall (Human League)
Kate Bush
Rachel Sweet
Claire Grogan (Altered Images)
Cindy Wilson (B52's)

I'll second your nomination for Kate Bush, though Debbie Harry is right up there as well

Was WWUI82 referring to Toyah, would never have guessed..

Always liked Kate Bush, such a beautiful woman.

The difference between her and Cliff Richard is that people like Cliff Richard and at least he has had some decent hits in his time.

How about this chic? A relatively unknown new wave act.

Totally agree with Invisible Man about Patsy Kensit. As Chic once said: "Yowza Yowza Yowza." Also Kim Wilde isn't getting as much love as I thought she would, the full body shot of the same image on the cover of Teases & Dares is about the hottest thing ever. But that might also have something to do with the Blade Runner-esque background imagery which I have a soft spot for, I'm not sure.

<img src="http://991.com/newGallery/Kim-Wilde-The-Second-Time-21860.jpg>

Also, a lot of the girls mentioned are total babes. Women were much hotter in the 80's, sorry. Also, I might be crazy, but I always thought Karyn White looked really good on her debut album, even though it's definitly not New Wave, lol.

Oh, no question Kensit is an epic babe. First time I saw her was in the film Angels & Insects, which has a pretty hot sex scene. But was Eighth Wonder really new wave rather than 80s pop? Not sure.

Nod to Kim Wilde - va-va-voom. shes still a horn bag IMO.

As I've said before in another similar topic here.. Samantha Fox was and is still also tasty... however she's turned rug-side.
