the "great" NW artists you couldn't get into

"Great" NW artists I could not get into include: U2, Joy Division, Bauhaus(although I like Peter Murphy as a solo artist, I could not get into any Bauhaus songs other than "She's in Parties" and "Bela Lugosi's Dead"), Midnight Oil, not a huge fan of New Order although I like a few songs, Tears for Fears, and although they are punk, not NW, the Sex Pistols(I included them because they are so revered, but I just could not get into them).

Ahh you've got Eclectic Disease. Its what happens when you ignore and deter away from the great stuff that's rather mainstream and groundbreaking in favor of bands that know one but .0001% of the population has heard of. I hear there's medication for it but its an ongoing ailment that many people on this board also suffer from. With treatment there's help.

IK was in a friend's car tonight and he was playing Speaking In Tongues by the Talking Heads. I've never really understood the appeal of that band. I didn't get it back then and I don't get it now.

Another band I really see no appeal in, although not techincally New Wave is The Pixies. I just don't get it at all.

Yes, I know they're not for everyone, but The Pixies really do have some fun "poppy" songs that get into your head. Check out thier greatest hits disc on Amazon and click on the song samples for a taste. They have a song thats called "Gouge Away" (I think thats it) that is as good as anything I have ever heard.
