"Heart Attack" by Olivia Newton John

"To All The Girls I've Loved Before" is pretty awful, too.

Just cuz VH1 tells us "We Built This City" is the worst song don't make it so. "Mickey" is far more detestable.

Jack & Diane by John Mellancamp (or Cougar or whatever he was calling himself at that time) is a horrible song as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We Built this City isn't any better or worse than a number of other pop hits in the mid-80's... things like Kyrie and Broken Wings by Mr. Mister, and Starship's other big singles: Sarah and Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now. Things like Love Changes Everything by Clime Fisher and Waiting for a Star to Fall by Boy Meets Girl (i think.) Just disposable pop... fun stuff at the time, still don't mind hearing them.

What really makes me cringe is Don't Worry, Be Happy. Hated that from day one, and still hate it.

Agree on We Built This City--yeah-lousy song but no way the worst. Dont let VH1 brainwash ya!!!!

On seeing the question , without seeing nominations--Mickey immediatly came to mind. Seeing the choices--Dont Worry Be Happy ALMOST got my vote--BUT--HAD TO VOTE FOR WHAM!!!!!!!!!!! The song makes me cringe!!!!!

I agree that most of the songs listed suck, although I can still tolerate them if only for kitsch value. But one song I could never stand was Dance Hall Days by Wang Chung. It's just so... boring.

It took years, but I can finally agree they suck. To me, they were always just kind of there. Nothing that would send me scrambling for the radio dial when they came on, but certainly bringing me even the slightest bit of enjoyment. And then, they released their latest single "Circus On The Moon". This has got to be the biggest piece of shit dropped on the airwaves in years. 20 years from now, when someone posts a "worst songs of the 00's" thread, this song will win in a landslide.
