nah, it's no big deal. Just because one is a new wave fan, doesn't mean one has to like [i]everything[/i] in the new wave genre. I think the original post's intent was just asking "[i]which new wave songs annoy you the most?[/i]" It's all a matter of taste. We used to have lots of discussions around here about what exactly is new wave, when did it jump the shark, what genres did it encompass, etc. In these illuminating discussions, what it came down to was taste. Some prefer the more power pop side of NW, and do not care for more of the synthy stuff. And vice-versa. With the exception of "Quiet Life", which I don't see how anyone could dislike (! lol!), what I see here on people's lists is just a reflection on people's tastes. No big deal.[:)]

Other than them both being lumped together in the rather large and encompassing tent called "New Wave", I personally don't see many musical similarities.

She's got an irritating high-pitched voice and a body that would make an annorexic look overweight. I reckon that one of the only reasons the album sold was due to the fact that the picture booklet contained a picture bearing one of her sacks of skin (to call it a breast would be too generous).

As for Toyah, the only difference between her and Duran Duran was they made it abundantly clear that they were going to whore themselves down London and only go back Birmingham on tour. As for Toyah, she said that she'll always keep in touch with her Birmingham roots, something she only did when she couldn't whore herself out any more due to all her orifices prolapsing. At least in Adam's case he was upfront about whoring himself and made no pretentions about keeping in touch with his roots.

PS If you want to piss off a Cure fan, say to them "aren't they that novelty band who had a hit with 'The Lovecats'?"

Funny though, some albums with songs I dislike contain favourites though. I think Thomas Dolby's "Europa and the Pirate Twins" is One of the best songs to come out of that genre.
And why do I love "misses" like Kim Wilde's "Suburbs of Moscow", Suzie Andrews version of "Der Kommissar", and New Order's earlier, darker stuff. It's all subjective but I think many superior songs are the ones frequently overlooked.

Ahh yes...

One of these posts was due to show and of course, plenty of NW 'Sacred Cows' have been and will be put up for slaughter.
Not surprising, many of my faves are already here.[:I]

As for me, Bauhaus's 'Bela Lugosi's Dead' was not that big charting single as others listed but it ALWAYS made me lunge for and switch/spin the tuner whenever it came on.
