YES. Despite LeBon having some voice lessons a child, and having sung in his church choir, I don't think his voice is that technically brilliant. Rather, it's just very distinctive. Although I love his voice, it's actually kind of whiny. His high notes can induce a cringe. But when he sticks to his alto, it's beautiful, and his low voice (such as in "Secret Oktober") is sooo sexy. Like a voice just for you, sung into in your ear. It's def. got a kick.
But someone like, say, Jimmy Somerville, Midge Ure, Boy George--THAT'S some range, and control, and knowledge of tones.

I'd have to say that Billy Mackenzie was above everyone new waver or not. So much talent, it's an honour that he belonged to New Wave, because he made the genre richer beyond any bounder.

Other highlights would be Iva Davies, Marion Gold, Morten Harket, Ben Orr, Martha Davis and Midge Ure.
