I guess. I was wondering about the animosity toward the singer, not toward the poster with the singer's handle
That's the whole point. If not for the obnoxious antics of one idiot, most of us would have a neutral or perhaps even slightly positive opinion of her. More members here now hate her due to the overzealous, obsessive promotion. I have my pet fringe faves too. But I don't abuse this site and the members herein, many of whom are quite passionate and knowledgeable about music, by constan tly grandstanding about them in almost all my posts.

I don't think many people here would be convinced the sun revolves around the earth no matter how many times someone posts it. It quickly becomes a boring exercise in futility and an irritant to the vast majority that actually have a real interest in exchanging valid ideas.

If it is truly that bad, then the moderators should step in. Besides consolidating threads, which doesn't seem to happen too often, isn't moderating the whole point of being a moderator?

Speaking only for myself, I love new wave music (and new wave babes) and learning about the genre. I get monumentally bored by the elementary school squabbling and name calling. Leave that to the punk outpost ...

You're too small a fish, that's why there's been no action.

If you are "monumentally bored by the elementary school squabbling", I'm confident in stating you've picked the wrong board to join. Oh, and your musical taste sucks...

You are a troll, probably 45 going on 15, someone who enjoys making things worse for others. Never did see the point of that, but each person lives (or doesn't) as he chooses. I won't "feed" you with any more responses. You aren't important enough.

For the record, I was not calling for action. My question was why, if so many people are bothered by a particular poster, the moderators don't do something.

And my musical taste is excellent. [:)]

Your ability to size me up so quickly is truly inspiring. "And my musical taste is excellent"...well, thanks for the laugh.

So, let me get this straight, hello_world ... the guy who has been here for over 7 years and has almost 7,000 posts is a troll but the guy with less than 100 posts who complains about everything from the site's layout to its content ... is not?

Good luck getting anyone with a brain cell to buy that. You'll soon go the way of so many disgruntled crybaby assclowns before you and it won't be a moment too soon. Need help finding the door?

Not a great comparison tbh. Cliff has sold shed-loads of records, has umpteen gold and platinums to his name and has a knighthood.

Toyah was little more than a novelty act along with the likes of Big Fun, Sonia and Mr. Blobby.

I thought it wasn't too bad as I stated that he was well-liked (which led to massive record sales over a prolonged period of time and of course the knighthood) but you are indeed correct that Toyah is little more than a novelty act.

Back to the subject at hand. How could I have overlooked one of my faves? Ah Josie!

Definitely in my Top 3.

If you're bothered by the feuds/arguments and tone of this board you can take heart in this:

None of this shit is actually important.

Have a nice day. [:)]

And to answer hello_world's question as to why the moderators don't do anything about the feuds/arguing....all's fair in love and war. If a post crosses the line into harassment along the lines of "Here's _________'s address so let's go over to _______'s house and kick ______'s ass" then, yeah, probably that member would be deleted and the post removed.

Years ago I would post on here and make the case for why this band was the greatest or that artist was "cool", etc. but it's all a bunch of happy horseshit that means nothing. Nobody's really cool and cool is overrated anyway. Cool doesn't pay the mortgage.

The bitching on this board is an excuse for middle aged people like us to relive high school. The majority of us will be dead in about 25 years anyway so enjoy it.

Like Bob Dylan says "I used to care but...things have changed." [}:)]

Everyone knows trolls aren't worth bothering about, but they are perhaps slightly interesting as psychological case studies. They spend tremendous energy trying to make others feel bad--trying to *matter* in some way because deep down they know they don't. Studies show there is increasing evidence that many have been sexually abused or humiliated. The more vociferously they hurl personal insults, the deeper their personal feelings of degradation, and the more convinced they are that others have the problem. Maybe a few of them get over their insecurity and recover. It'd be nice to think so, although deep down I suspect nobody cares about them except those who are paid to.

Kudos - It takes a pretty big man to lay it all out there and explain himself like you just did. Sorry about the sexual abuse and humiliation. That must have been rough. [:(]

Based on what I've read around here, if there were ever an NWO get-together in real life, I'd count on at least two fistfights and three knifings. Think I'll stay home.

Huh. That's exactly why I'd go.
