I remember as a teen when I first watched that Super 8 "The Punk Rock Movie" on VHS and I said to myself "Man, I gotta get me some Pistols albums". I went to the local record store and headed for the Sex Pistols section to find 20 CD's! I thought I would never be able to get heavily into them as they seemed so prolific! Luckily I did a little reading and found out that there was really only "Never Mind The Bollocks..."
Now I simply hate the idea of someone who might be thinking of getting into the Pistols and going into a record store and picking up one of these knock-off collection of demos and poorly recorded live tracks before learning the full story. In fact, some of these "albums" feature Sex Pistols imitators! I think the newly reformed Pistols should gather up the best of these compilations and release a "Definitive" 2 disc bootleg.After all, these cuts are of dubious legality so why should'nt the Pistols make some cash from all this chaos (sorry, had to do it).
I know "the Great Rock-N-Roll Swindle" sort of covers the Goodman tapes and the post-Rotten stuff but it's filled with such flotsam and jetsom like McLaren's orchestral preamble and that disco Pistols medley.

True, there was only "Bollocks" but also some singles put out on Virgin Records during that time. A song called "Satellite" which is VERY authentic Sex Pistols; also "Did You No Wrong" and some others, I have to dig them out.

I just saw today in the used CD bin a copy of "Never Mind the Bullocks" as a 2-CD set, the other CD containing outtakes and demos. Anyone else know of this release? Is it worth getting?

I'd also recommend "Some Product" -- it's filled with interviews and soooo hilarious. I spent hours listening to this with friends as a teenager.

skinnytie: The second disc in that set is "Spunk", the best known bootleg album. I think that edition is out of print now, and it's probably worth getting it if you can.

I passed on it, frostie. Seems there a few selling on eBay, and will probably go for less money than the store I saw it in had it for. Thanks for the info, though. [:)]
