Despite the brief bout of Postus Interruptus we had last week (BTW Thanks MikeP for all your hard work keeping the NWO as vibrant as it is---But cutting Hutter cold turkey like that was harsh[;)][:D]) I'm back asking for all your opinions (and any possible examples) from these bands:

ESG are a wonderful, moody (ha ha) avant-funk band; if you like Liquid Liquid or Konk you'll find them absolutely brilliant. I think they reissued most of their backcatalogue on CD 2-3 years ago. "Moody" shows up on a few 80s Compilations; it's a good start.

The Exploited were (still are) from Scotland and were one of the premiere proponants of the seconds wave of UK punk rock. Very harsh, thrashy, fast, and extremely pissed off songs against Thatcher, the army, nuclear war, all the generic stuff punks were supposed to sing about.
Lead vocalist Wattie Buchan made the mohawk trendy. He's been the only constant member of the band in almost 30 years. Their current music sounds more like Slayer than GBH.
The Exploited, in 1980-1984, were held in the same light bands like Good Charlotte, The Casualties, or Rancid are held these days. All image and no substance. The Exploited were a gateway band that piqued the interest of the curious. From them you either got into more of the "real" punk bands like Discharge, CRASS, or One Way System, or you bought a record or 2, dyed your hair a funny color, and then went on to the next trend that came along.
However, They did put out a few ripping punk albums: Troops Of Tomorrow, Let's Start A War, Horror Epics, and Death Before Dishonour, while created by a bunch of poseurs, still stand as a good introduction to the early 80's UK punk scene.
