Fingerprintz were mainly a singles band, though a compilation of many of their songs was released in '81. This is my favorite from the Beat Noir LP, Beat Escape. It is a great, upbeat - should have been a hit - song.

I have the "Distinguishing Marks" LP (that one should have spawed several hit singles) and "Beat Noir" LP avaialble to share. I had both of them professionally transfered to CDR for me many years ago. The "Distinguishing Marks" LP has some service noise, but "Beat Noir" is perfectly clean. I also have the video for "Shadowed".

Edit: BTW, Fingerprintz returned in the late 80s and early 90s (with a couple of personnel changes) as the Silencers.

Freshly Wrapped Candies were a California-based experimental pop band along the lines of The Residents. They released three albums.

Their 1985 debut album was self-released and limited to 333 copies, and is their most experimental record, recorded in one of the member's living rooms in a day. No songs were pre-written; the album is the result of a improvised jam session. It's extremely lo-fi, structureless, and avant garde, almost close to European experimental groups like HNAS, but with occasionaly bursts of pop sensibility where they actually get a rhythm going for a few minutes. It's definitely not my style, but it's fun to listen to once in a while as background noise.

Their 1987 album was much more cohesive. It was also self-released, but had a slightly larger pressing of 500-1000 copies. It's got slightly better production value (that is to say, it has production value), and has some great pop gems. A couple songs are dark pop, several are experimental, and a few are straight-up synthpop, and there are sung and sampled vocals. This is my favorite album from them.

Their 1989 album on Ralph Records continues the style of thier second album. It's experimental, but not pretentious, since the band doesn't take itself too seriously (and also 'cause their name is so lighthearted).

There were actually 2 bands named Fingerprints/z. One was a Minneapolis pop band on the Twin Tone label. The other was not. (Sorry, I know virtually nothing about either band)
