By "Wave" of Introduction

Hi Ho Folks-I am a college ph.d. student in Fargo, ND-I was a college radio DJ just as new wave was morphing into alternative-never could quite bite the lifestyle enough to be a punk-but I guess I was a new wave fan.

I'm a major but major sixties music fan-of the nuggets-garage band variety stuff-so, while I don't mind dusting off the old goth or synthpop-stuff-I was always much more of an enthusiast of the stuff that was a little more "rocky" in the new wave scene.

Faves from the era:

The Ramones (of course)
The Clash
Jam
Plimsouls(THE great "lost band" of the eighties-I know that people who post here know who they were-but does your average joe know any of the words to "A Million Miles Away?").

Gang of Four

IMO, the quintessential LP (on CD) to own by The Plimsouls is "Everywhere At Once" although I do have and like them all. I just think the one I mentioned is one of my favorite 80s releases.

Son, you've got extremely fine taste in music...hmm, many of MY favorites come to think of it. [:D] Agree with Grunch too that "Everywhere at Once" is a classic, overshadowed by the previous album's hits like "Now", "Zero Hour", and "Million Miles Away".

Well-Maybe most of my fave rave bands aren't "Garage" per se-I think they represented the "Rock" side of "New Wave" pretty darn well-although I would dispute about "In The City" being a garage song-having been born in 1963-I missed a lot of good garage mu
