On one of the local "modern rock" stations, I happened to catch this U2-sounding song (from the "Under a Blood Red Sky" era). The singer reminds me of David Gray. Anyone know what the artist and/or song might be??

Not sure, but I definitely thought Remy Zero's fairly recent "Save Me" sounded like a U2 dead ringer (even sounding like Bono).

Wire Train's song "Crashing Back To You" has a u2 feel to it.
