The Book: The New Music (1980)

Back in 1980, an Australian book called The New Music was released world wide. The American copy had a hard cover.
The book was written by Glen A. Baker and Stuart Coupe and included colour photos and biographies of the known and lesser known New Wave acts at the time, including the Cure, the Cars, INXS, B-52's, etc...
Is anybody on here aware of this book or has become more knowledgable of New Wave acts due to this book? There is an English website that uses many pictures from this particular book....
In someways it's become my ultimate directory to New Wave music!
Worth a purchase or search!

I've got it and it's definitely a nice one to have. Lots of color pictures and covers the whole gamut of New Wave (synth-pop, rockabilly, power pop, etc.) But as far as a reference book is concerned I think the first two Trouser Press Guides to New Wave

I've trashed 3 copies of that book since it was released in 1981. That book, along with the locally (Minneapolis) produced radio show Ready Steady Go changed my life as far as muic and its' related cultures go.

An incredible resource that I have is entitled "International Discography of the New Wave" Volume 1982/1983 by B George and Martha DeFoe, One Ten Records, Omnibus Press. It is a 736 page book, sadly out of print. It regularly sells for $100 used on e-bay

There's an on-line version of the Int'l Guide To New Wave, as well as the Trouser Press Guide To New Music.
Baker/Coupe also published a book a few years later (83?) called The New Rock and Roll which basicly updated The New Music.
