Dirty Looks
Posted: Thu Jul 08, 2004 1:23 amMy band and I played the 80's NJ/NY circuit, but our real heroes were Dirty Looks. For those of you who remember that great trio, here is a link I found about them, including, sadly, a memorial to the great bass player, Marco Sin.
One night, they were at One Step Beyond, and I went upstairs to meet them before the show. They were really nice and genuine, and shared their cold cuts with me and my friends.

Much later, one day in about '84, I was in Ski Barn (Paramus), and I saw Patrick Barnes trying on ski boots. I told my girlfriend Doreen, who also sang with my band, that it was the great singer/guitarist/frontman, Pat. "Naw," she said. "That's not him." "Yes, it's him" I said. Well, I approached the guy, and it was Patrick Barnes. The band hadn't played in months, and I excitedly asked him what was up. He explained that there were some issues with his label, and I got the feeling he was out of the music biz. "What are you doing in Ski Barn, you should be on a stage, or in a recording studio?" I asked him. He shrugged that off, introduced us to his fiance, a pretty red haired girl, and got back to the business of finding a pair of ski boots. I never forget their music, nor their world class talents.
