Hi,

This has surely been discussed here before but I just joined so.......
Why has Live Aid never (as far as I can tell) been released in any format? Obviously we'd be talking only highlights of the show although wouldn't it be great to have the whole thing on DVD!? Probably comes down to record company BS. I'm mostly interested in the British side of the show. My oddest memory of Live Aid (or maybe I just dreamed it) has to be Midge Ure from Ultravox singing the part from "Vienna": "This means nothing to meeeeeee" Kinda darkly funny considering what Live Aid was supposed to be about. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Good question!
You're probably correct, that with so many acts, the legal can of worms would probably be the reason why.
And now, where would the money go to? Ethiopia, the artists, the record company(s)?

Ah....Live Aid. Perhaps the single greatest event I was ever involved with. I broadcast part of that live on WLIR. I too wondered about the recordings as so many outlets carried it on both Radio and TV.

I had tape of it somewhere both video and audio.

Correction:

In thinking about it, I did not broadcast part of Live Aid. I was part of a club event that was open for 24 hours.

I was part of another broadcast....can't remember the name but it was like live Aid only not as good.
