Has anyone else heard Aussie synth-rock band MEO 245 at all? One of New Wave's best kept secrets, they hailed from Melbourne, Australia. They had a coupla great singles, and then the 'Screen Memory' album in 81. Unfortunately, they followed this obscure classic up with the lacklustre, gloomy plod of the 'Rites Of Passage' mini album. Both album & mini LP were re-released on one CD in an EXTREMELY limited run (good luck if you can find it!!!!!). I saw a copy go for $100Aus on Ebay last year! If you like early 80s sorta similar stuff (early Ultravox-ish), then this rare gem is for you. I finally got all their releases on CD, including the now very scarce early singles. Brilliant band.

They were one of my favourite bands at the time. Brittle guitars, sweeping synths, and a great bass player and drummer. The Screen Memory album is brilliant synth rock. Some poppy stuff (Other Places, the awesome So Far Away), some eerie atmospheric slowe

The only song I have of theirs is "Lady Love" (one of the early singles) on an Australian comp. It's a great song (maybe I should just post it as a Song of the Week) ... makes me want to seek out their other material. Thanks for the discography info.

"I managed talk to someone to pricing them for me for $170...now all i have to do is come up with the money....."
That's way too much money for 3 CDs.

I forgot to mention that MEO 245's Screen Memory/Rites of Passage CD is remastered. The difference between the original vinyl/cassettes and the remastered CD is like night and day.
