Why hasn't new wave come back yet sense the second rise of punk and ska has it the muisc industry??? Is it because synthisizers aren't new or innovative??? Is it because new wave could only exist in one time or place??? Or is it because the mainly youth dominated music industry can not variate beyond simple pop hooks and experiment with different sounds which eventually lead from the punk to new wave???

Punk never really went away. In most big cities there are many thriving underground punk scenes, it's just that sometimes "punk" like Green Day surfaces into the mainstream and then goes back underground.

Ok the crack about video game players is invalid because the only reason i got into new wave was because of a video game: Grand Theft Auto Vice City, and i frequently play video games so I don't know where you got that from

Don't care where I hear new wave music: in a video game, in a Swiffer commercial or in an elevator (muzak version of GooGooMuck anyone?) - I'm always happy to hear it!

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear: My point in regards to the video/computer games is that the musicians that would be creating New Wave music today are instead playing those games.

I agree with Tborg completely. You could not have the music scenes we have today without the 80's music, and you could not have the video games we have today without the 80's games. [:)]

I don't mean to be a wise-ass but, why not start your own new wave/synth band???

Go buy an analog keyboard/synth off eBay, grab some friends with instruments, a 4 track and write your own music.

People for a while considered new wave to dated. But I think time will prove that wrong. Some of it may sound archaic, but no more than an underproduced Jimi Hendrix record. There's no way people will not long for the synthesizer again. I think bands
