hi, new to the forum here. I grew up in the US hardcore punk scene but spent many a night listening to long island, ny's WLIR during it's mid 80's new wave hayday, and will always have a soft spot for those zongs.

what does everyone think of the new strain of new wave/post punk like, The Faint, yeah yeah yeah's and interpol?

Hi, there is a "New" New wave electro going down in the UK, like old new wave its a bit underground as the music in the UK top 40 gone a bit naff "lost the plot".

I started out in the late 70's on New Wave, gravitated towards punk/HC in about 1983, but never gave up the love of synth music.

If you dig punk and new wave you gotta check out The Epoxies, one of the best going on right now.

Just about anything on the "Dirtnap" label or "Hostage" Records.

There is a great band called The Minds.

Get there CD you'll love it.

My band actually opened for The Epoxies not to long ago...It was a down-right amazing show...

The Epoxies kinda remind me of a faster Kim Wilde...maybe...

If you like The Yeah Yeah Yeahs then go to the iTunes Music Store and check out the new exclusive non-album track from them called "Yeah! New York". It's really good IMHO.

The new new wave bands are ok... but it's just not the same. Gone is the flair we saw in the 80's-- the gender-bending (Culture Club, Frankie), the crazy hair (AFOS, B-52's, Missing Persons), colors and costumes (Adam & the Ants, Sigue Sigue Sputnik, etc.

Should perhaps have mentioned that last year's excellent recording by The Postal Service, "The Gift", is also chuck-filled with catchy 80's ish songs.
