Do You Still Have Any Clothes From Then?

I still have my M.C. jacket. Not that I ever really wear it, but I keep it more for posterity [^] Oh, and a pair of cut off 501's...28 waist...can't believe my body was once that thin [:(]

Oh yeah. A certain former board member and I had a looong series of posts about our beloved New Wave wardrobe.

And my 21 1/2 inch waist is no more. I'm not that much bigger but just large enough that I can't fit into my black leather pencil skirt from 1984. Ditto for the pegged jeans.

In my shoe archive I have all kinds of shoes--red pumps with black snake racing stripes, Mondrian-style pumps color blocked in four shades of purple (I wore those to see Prince), lots of pointy little flats, gothic granny boots.

Still have the rhinestones, fake pearls, even some of the scarves I used to tie around my head for that Madonna look.

And the Jackie K thrift-store stuff from the sixties--purses, cool black cashmere coat that I still wear.

I could go on . . . sigh.

I've got a Sid Vicious Action Man t-shirt that I bought in the summer of 1984. It looks like cheesecloth now and is full of holes. No way could I ever fit into it, that was 80lbs ago, but I keep it around for posterity. I figure some day I'll buy a manequine and dress it up in my old punk rock clothes and have it standing in the corner of my house.

Tons of stuff - my old leather jacket, my eisenhower jackets, calvary shirts, some god-awful Chess King clothes, a couple studded belts, a pair of velcro fly bondage pants, all sorts of junk.

I don't know why I'm hanging on to it...but I know I'm not getting rid of it anytime soon!

The only big clothes I've kept from then are a couple of bolo and spanish ties (ala John Taylor--I still got my Duran hat, too) and a number of tour shirts that I've kept in storage for years..

I've wondered what the cheese factor would be to take out my Depeche Mode "Black Celebration" tour shirt and wear it out one day. Luckily my wife restrains me..[:D]

I still have the DM Black Celebration shirt too and a never worn DM scarf, of all things. I should put the scarf on ebay or something.

Yep, I still have retro clothes, but never wear them.

Got my pointy John Fluevogs in a box somewhere :). I was big on bolos, so I still all those ... plus all the pins, brooches, etc.

hexicon you've got good taste in clothes. Pencil skirts & pumps? Hmm.

I have an original "British flag shirt" from the 80s I won on ebay. Never fit me right, so I bought a repro one that was in my size. Still kept the original one though.

God, I still have my Black Celebration tour shirt also. The one with all the symbols for all the songs. Easily, the coolest tour shirt ever! I practically became a graphic designer because of those little logos [8D] My favorite was the one for "Stripped". I actually have tons of concert shirts from over the years including Simple Minds in 1986 at Croagh Park, Dublin, Ireland.

Still have all my pins!

I think I've got a few of my band t-shirts, a couple cool new wave tops, old Levi 501's to which I had taken a toothbrush dipped in bleach, maybe a punk-rock military jacket (hooked from Pop's closet) or two. Nope, I don't wear this stuff anymore, but it would all still fit. Oh yeah, and some of the fantastic jewelry, such as brooches & earrings.

Wish I'd saved any of the vintage stuff I had.

Yeah, it was ahead of its time. Look at how icons became big when computers became big in the late 90s.
