- Depeche Mode's New Dress is about Princess Diana's.....New Dress.

Actually, 88 Seconds is about a 1979 incident in Greensboro, NC, where 5 members of a Communist Workers Party-led anti-Klan march were shot and killed by a group of Klansmen and American Nazis. No one was ever convicted in this case, although the families of the murdered were eventually awarded damages in a civil trial.

ha ha! The history teacher that my clasroom backs up into (our back doors all connect) plays that song around this time every year, wrapping up the 20th C., and it always makes me cringe when I hear it. Argh!

What in the hell was that song about, anyways? Throwing out some random historic and pop culture references, and throwing it on the radio don't make it a "song". Just idiotic crap. What happened to Billy Joel? In his early days, his music was at least tolerable.
