It's weird not to see any tribute thread dedicated to him in the anniversary of his death but I feel I have to write this.
Somewhere at the same point of the year in 2004, I was pretty bored at my home so I decided to turn on the TV. A show on The Cure's history was on so, of course, I would watch it (I was already a Cure fan by then). The host of the show starts talking about the musical scene at the time and suddenly I hear it... some bass notes like I've never heard before and a guy singing in a voice that was so intense. My immediate reaction was to ask myself who were they, that incredible band??? Then the host explains that they were Joy Division. I was driven to know more about them and when I discovered their lyrics and their music, I found sth which I could relate to. Someone singing about existence, the incovenience of relationships, the bad things that happen in life, feeling alone and isolated from the rest of the world... that was Ian, maybe the spokeperson for depression in music.
And I'm not saying that what he did (committing suicide) was wrong or right... I wish he had lived more years. What I'm saying is that his legacy has not been forgotten and that we should remember what amazing music he left us.

Jeez, sis...call a spade a spade. There's NO excuse for suicide. He had a wife and kid, for Pete's sake. Yeah, it's a shame that he decided to check out, and who knows what kind of music he may have made if he decided to do the right thing and stuck around.
