Sirius First Wave 'saftey dance' wknd & mix show

I was glued to the radio this weekend. Except when Howard's on in the AM, I haven't been able to say that for years. Sirius' new wave channel, First Wave, did weekend of programming with extended remixes mostly blended in club dj format.

Horrible name (Safety Dance Weekend), but the music was good and surprisingly competently mixed by unnamed DJs (too bad they didn't shout them out). Some band medley-type megamixes as well. Best part was it went deeper than the typical First Wave fare, which includes wayyy too much of the Take On Me/Doctor Doctor/Forever Young overplayed 'hits' for my taste. Things like Xymox and Front 242 in the middle of the day were so refreshing! I kept thinking "finally, they get it" about the First Wave programmers.

Anyone else listen and enjoy this weekend?

Apparently they're also going to do a Saturday night show in the same vein from now on. Hopefully they decide on a better name, but it sounds like they're sticking with "saftey dance". Oh well.

i think xm plays a more diverse selection on fred than sirius does on first wave but both could do a much better job of representing the era. imo, fred plays far too much elvis costello and world party for my taste and not near enough of the industrial/goth music of the era.
when xm started out, stabwalt from stabbing westward was one of the dj's on fred and he would play whatever the F he felt like. so you know he was playing some good schtuff. i have not heard him on there in ten forevers.

We have Sirius at work and I had to be at work this past weekend. Guess what I listen to ? Yeah , it was fun to hear all those great extended remixes .
